Finding the Right Agent

When you decide to sell your home, you have the option of either doing everything by yourself, or you can spare yourself the trouble and let a professional handle all the dirty work. In case you opt to refer the matter to a realtor, your most difficult task would be to screen the list of available agents and pick out one whom you feel would be able to handle your account best.

The services provided by realtors do not come cheap. It can be considered a minor investment, thus, you have to make sure that you will be getting your money’s worth. When finding a real estate agent, you have to look beyond the external (although that would matter) and carefully evaluate their capabilities. So, when the task of choosing a real estate agent is before you, what should you look for?

Look at their track record. How long have they been in the business? What kinds of homes have they sold in the past and how long did it take them to sell these properties?

Next, look at the services they offer. Do you feel that the level of work they will do is commensurate to the price they have listed? Compare the prices and services of different agents. Which service do you think is more comprehensive? Which company can provide you with more advertisements, or which allows flexibility when showing homes?

Finally, which agent do you feel most comfortable working with? Even if another agent charges a lower price, if you feel that you cannot get along with them, it won’t be worth the savings.

The main concern when you are looking for an agent is finding one whom you can trust. Remember that you are putting your most valuable possession in the care of a total stranger. You should feel comfortable dealing with him and can sleep peacefully at night knowing that you and your property will be well taken care of.
