Closing on Your Home, What Happens for the Seller
Would you believe that sometimes, something as (seemingly) trivial as a home’s curb appeal, or how it looks from the outside, can have a major effect on the marketability of a house that is on sale?
Actually, the home’s curb appeal is not the only reason why a client will or will not buy your home. A buyer who wants to show how successful he or she has become is usually the one who tends to look for houses that have fabulous curb appeal. Those who are more concerned about how the interiors and the amenities of the home suit their needs or those who value their space and privacy tend to choose homes that do not command too much attention.
If you are pretty confident about the state of your home’s interior but not about the external appearance, do not despair. It is not that difficult (or expensive) to make the curb appeal of your house higher.
Assuming your house is already in good order (no broken windows or missing shingles), you can still make your property more appealing. For starters, keep your garden or lawn clear from any clutter. Remove anything that would most likely turn off your prospective client. Keep your hedges and grass trimmed, and sweep off dead leaves. Sometimes, the entire curb appeal improves just by the simple addition of flowering plants and outdoor lights.
If you want to add charm to your home, you can add shutters to bare windows. If you have available funds, give your home a fresh coat of paint. Others repaint the exterior, and some replace an ordinary fence with an architecturally attractive one.
There are many ways to make your home more appealing. Be imaginative and don’t be afraid to experiment.
